Cheese foam tea is a new trend that’s taking over the internet. It’s basically a tea latte, but instead of milk, you drink it with cheese foam on top.

How to Drink Cheese Foam Tea

The drink was invented in Taiwan and is gaining popularity around the world. It has been featured on many food blogs and websites, like BuzzFeed and Delish.

If you’re curious about this new beverage trend, here’s how to make cheese foam tea at home.

Taste

Cheese foam tea tastes similar to bubble tea or Japanese matcha milk tea. It has a creamy texture from the milk and cheese, but it has a savory taste from the cheese powder instead of sweet flavors like those in bubble tea or matcha milk tea.

You can choose from several different kinds of cheeses for your cheese foam teas: cheddar, parmesan, blue cheese, gouda and more! Each type of cheese has its own unique flavor profile so try different ones to find your favorite!

Variations

There are different variations of cheese foam tea such as Mocha Cheese Latte from Starbucks or Matcha Cheese Latte from Dunkin Donuts. These drinks are usually served hot but you can also order them iced if you prefer. Some restaurants also offer their own versions of this drink with their own toppings such as chocolate sprinkles or whipped cream for added flavor and sweetness to your taste buds!

Toppings

Some restaurants offer toppings for their cheese foam teas such as caramel syrup, hazelnut syrup (Nutella), whip cream, and more! You can also add your own toppings such as peppermint candy or matcha powder to give your drink an extra kick!

Sour Cream Substitution

If you don’t have access to any of these ingredients but still want to try making cheese foam tea, then I recommend using sour cream instead of cream cheese and water instead of milk. The sour cream will give the drink its characteristic tangy flavor while also helping it become frothy. Milk can also be used instead of water if desired but it won’t give quite as much froth as cream or sour cream will do when mixed with hot water.

In conclusion, cheese foam tea is a new type of beverage that has been recently introduced in the market. It is made from tea and cheese foam, which are two of the most popular drinks in the world. Cheese foam tea can be served hot or cold, depending on your preferences.

This recipe is easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients. The cheese foam will only last for about 24 hours, so make sure to drink it quickly!

Equipment

  • Tea Pot
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk or fork
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Cheese cloths
  • Thermometer or candy thermometer (recommended)

Ingredients

For the Cheese Foam

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste)

For Serving the Cheese Foam Milk Tea

  • 1 teaspoon of agar powder

  • 2 tablespoons of cold water

  • 1/2 cup milk or cream

  • 1/4 cup condensed milk (or more to taste)

  • 1/2 cup milk tea base (we used Hong Kong milk tea but any milk tea base will work)

  • 1/2 teaspoon matcha powder (optional)

Instructions

For the Cheese Foam

  • Step 1: In a food processor or blender, combine the cream cheese, milk and vanilla.
  • Step 2: Pulse for about 30 seconds until smooth. Pour into a mixing bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Step 3: Using an electric hand mixer, beat the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy. Add the sugar and continue beating until combined.
  • Step 4: Place the bowl in the freezer for 15 minutes to chill it down before adding the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. The mixture will become thick and sticky when you add each egg. You may need to scrape down any stray bits of egg that get stuck to the sides of the bowl with a spatula while you are beating it in order to ensure that they are fully incorporated into your mixture.

For Serving the Cheese Foam Milk Tea

  • Step 1: In a large saucepan, heat the milk until it begins to simmer.
  • Step 2: Add in the condensed milk and coconut cream. Turn off the heat and let it cool.
  • Step 3: Meanwhile, whisk your egg yolks with sugar until they are pale yellow and creamy. Add the pandan leaves extract and green tea powder into the egg yolk mixture and mix well.
  • Step 4: Whisk in some of the hot milk mixtures into your egg yolk mixture to temper it. Make sure not to add too much or else it will curdle! Pour back into your saucepan and heat over low-medium heat while stirring constantly until thickened (about 5 minutes). Be careful not to overheat as this will cause your foam to break down!
  • Step 5: Once the mixture has a pudding-like consistency, pour through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl. Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate until cool. (Alternatively, you can use an ice bath to speed up this process)
  • Step 6: Pour your cooled milk foam into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you have a little extra time, let the ice cream sit out on the counter for a few hours so that the milk makes it to a firmer soft-serve consistency.
